BRIDGETOWN – Middle order batsman Roston Chase made his second Test century as the West Indies closed the opening day of the second cricket Test against Pakistan with 286 for six in 89 overs.

He finished the day on 131 not out, alongside his captain Jason Holder, who is unbeaten on 58. Chase, struck 17 fours in his unbeaten innings off 207 balls in 309 minutes. Holder’s knock has been laced with eight fours off 125 balls in 161 minutes.

West Indies won the toss and batted first, but struggled over the first two sessions. They moved from 72 for three at lunch to 166 for six at tea, before Chase and Holder batted through the final session. After losing opener Kraigg Brathwaite for nine and Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope for one and five respectively, before lunch, the West Indies also lost the wickets of Kieran Powell (38), Vishaul Singh (3) and Shane Dowrich (29) in the post-lunch session.

Fast bowler Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Abbas have been Pakistan’s most successful bowlers with two wickets each for 52 and 47 runs, respectively.
