Pakistan-34th National Games Golf 2023: Day 2 | Nouman & Hamna Lead

In the race for individual gold medal-seeking honors in the ongoing National Games Golf in Quetta, after the conclusion of the second round, Nouman Ilyas took over the leadership reins from M. Arsalan who slips to fourth position after a modest round of gross 76. As for Nouman Ilyas, he certainly put up a commendable array of accurate shot-making that enabled him to come up with a noteworthy score of gross 70 and a two rounds aggregate of 143, three over par.

While Nouman earned the honor of finding his name at the top on the leaderboard, he finds two adversaries like Salman Jehangir (WAPDA) and Shahzaib Jahan (Army) placed two strokes behind him at a score of 145. During the course of the second round, Salman Jehangir stands out as the champion with the best round of the day. His score of gross 69 falls in the under-par category and accredits him as a serious contender for the ultimate gold medal aspirant.

Some more worthy ones who improved on their first-round performances are Hussain Hamid (WAPDA) scoring a gross 72 as against a 74 the previous day, Irtiza Hussain (NAVY) a 72 while first days round was 76 and M. Shoaib (Army) scored 71 as against a poor 77 on the first day.

A review of the aggregate scores after two rounds reflects the top position holder Noman Ilyas at 143 followed by Shahzaib Jahan and Salman Jehangir at 145, M. Arsalan and Hussain Hamid at 146, Irtiza Hussain and M. Shoaib at 148. These contestants are very much in the run for top honors and the competitive race is animated and vigorous.

Inter Team Event

The Leader Team in is the Army Team comprising of Shahzaib Khan, Noman Ilyas, M. Shoaib, and M. Arsalan. Their team score after two rounds is 429 and they are ahead of WAPDA Team by a margin of 15 strokes. Members of the WAPDA Team are Hussain Hamid, Salman Jehangir, Noman Asghar, and Danish Javed. Placed third is the PAF Team at a score of 459. PAF team members are Usama Nadeem, Muslim Abbas, Daniyal Jehangir, and Damil Ataullah.

Ladies Round 1 Play

Ladies also completed their first round, out of three rounds. The leader in an individual category is Hamna Amjad (PAF). Her score is gross 74. Placed second is Parkha Ijaz (Army) at a score of gross 75 followed by Suneya Osama (Army) 77. Ana James Gill is at 78 and Rimsha Ijaz is at 79.

In the team event for Ladies, the leading team is PAF comprising of Hamna Amjad and Suneya Osama. The team score is 151. Lying in the second position is the Army Team. The team members are Parkha Ijaz and Rimsha Ijaz. The team score is 154. Placed third is the WAPDA Team at a score of 169. Team members are Ana James Gill and Zaib un Nisa.
