Muhammad Waseem the WBC Silver Flyweight Champion from Pakistan, knocked out Eliecer Valdez in the 2nd second round to win the warm up fight.

Since 29th June, Waseem has been preparing in Panama with Las Vegas-based trainer Jeff Mayweather for a probable WBC title fight early next year with world champion Mayweather Junior.

Waseem hailing from Quetta on 17th July, 2016, beat Jether Oliva of Philippines and became the first Pakistani boxer to win the world silver belt.

This bout was Waseem’s first bout of 2017 and his 6th straight win. He became the first Pakistani pro boxer and won WBC Silver Flyweight Championship in 2016 by beating Jether Olivia.

According to WBC – June, 2017 ranking, Waseem became the world’s top-ranked boxer and the first Pakistani boxer to be listed as the number-one boxer in the flyweight category.

The trainer Jeff Mayweather who is uncle of the legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather, while talking to the media said:

  • “It helped him get the ring rust off him to give him the mind-set going into the Title fight knowing he fought to get himself in fighting shape.”
  • “This mentally helps him focus on his mission also reminds him how serious it is to be prepared for any and everything that comes your way you can’t sleep on anyone or all you have worked for can disappear in the blink of an eye.
  • “He feels good because he is not jumping into a title fight without preparation he has been off seven months, which is a long time to just jump right into a title fight.”
  • “This fight will help the ‘Falcon Khan’ to get in the right state of mind and make him realize that he needs to focus on his next crucial bouts.”
