Highlights & Analysis

  1. In the sunset of their glorious careers, Pietersen and Watson ripped through Karachi with an absorbing partnership of 86 runs in just 58 balls. Their partnership helped Quetta maintain a high run rate through the middle overs and resulted in Quetta posting a mammoth total.
  1. With Afridi opening the batting, Karachi looked to get off to a flying start from the very beginning. That, unfortunately for them, did not happen. Afridi fell early and started the slide which the rest of the batting lineup was unable to stop. Four of their top five batsmen fell for a combined six runs, with Denly, Afridi, Ingram and Bopara scoring 1, 1, 5 and 0 respectively.
  1. This game produced big numbers and records. Quetta’s winning margin was the greatest ever in PSL history and Shane Watson’s glorious innings meant that he now holds the record for the highest number of runs scored in an innings in this year’s edition. Lastly, Quetta just fell short of recording the highest total of this season by three runs.
  1. Quetta surge to second in the table after Thursday’s big win, their eight points behind only Multan Sultan, who have nine. Karachi, with seven points, drop down to fourth.
