The 2021 Rugby League World Cup to be held in England has been postponed until 2022, according to the Rugby League management.

The World Cup was scheduled to start in Newcastle, England from 23rd October 2021, which includes Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair events.

The postponement was expected after the champions Australia and New Zealand withdrew due to safety fears during the coronavirus pandemic. The organisers had made all possible effort to hold the World Cup during autumn, without the two of the big three teams. However, after all the 16 NRL clubs supported the boycott, the organisers had no choice but to postpone the event.

The CEO Rugby League World Cup, Mr. Jon Dutton mentioned that they had no choice but to make the most difficult decision during their six-year management history. Elaborated that they were resilient, and in 2022 the best Rugby League World Cup will be held.
