The 32nd Pakistan Masters Scrabble Championship will be held from 18th till 20th September at Karachi. The event is sponsored by the Pakistan’s cricket franchise – Quetta Gladiators, along with venue partner support of PharmEvo.
After the C’19 pandemic global lockdown period, the 32nd Pakistan Masters Scrabble Championship will be the first on location scrabble event in Pakistan.
A unique achievement of the Pakistan Scrabble has been that when the whole world was paralyzed including the World of Scrabble, it was the Pakistan young fraternity which filled energy into the World Scrabble by starting the First Online Scrabble events. Which were also later adapted by other International Scrabble associations and groups with the effort PSA-Pakistan Scrabble Association.
The Masters Championship event was announced by the Director Youth Program Mr. Tariq Pervez along with Mr. Zubair Ahmed of PharmEvo at a ceremony held at PharmEvo office in Karachi.
To be held under strict health SOPs, the top 40 players of the country based on national rating will be participating.
The defending champion is 15 year old Hasham Hadi Khan, while Pakistan’s No. 1 Waseem Khatri will be vying for a record 9th national title. Other major title contenders are the Hadi twins, former national champion Sohaib Sanaullah and the teen sensation S. Imaad Ali.
The championship will be streamed live on the internet. Former World Champion Craig Beevers of England will be doing the running commentary
Hassan Hadi Khan has been appointed as the tournament director.
