Tennis Australia announced that during the next two weeks the dates of the Australian Open will be confirmed, which was scheduled during the last two weeks of January 2021.

The Tennis Australia executive director Craig Tiley, issued the clarification in response to the statements made by the Prime Minister of the state of Victoria, which stated that players will not be able to arrive before 1st January and upon arrival they must gp through a strict two-week quarantine.

Further, Mr. Tiley stated that the intention of his team is to be able to conclude the Australian tennis summer at the earliest, alluding to both the preparatory tournaments. Also ensured that the final decision will be announced within next two weeks, for which talks are continuing with the health authorities.

According to media reports, postponement of the Australian Open event, the start of which was scheduled for 18th January, would greatly disturb the scheduled ATP calendar, as it may affect up to 40 ATP and WTA tournaments.
