As a test run for the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020-21, an international gymnastics event is set to be held in Tokyo.

Thomas Bach – President of IOC International Olympic Committee told that these activities are part of comprehensive plan to ensure safe Olympic Games while timely and cautiously developing a tool box of COVID-19 related countermeasures for every possible scenario.

According to the details, 32 gymnasts from China, USA, Russia and Japan will contest the event that will commence on 8th November 2020. This will be the first international sports event to be held in Tokyo after the corona pandemic.

In addition to the players and the officials, around 2000 spectators wearing masks and observing other corona related SOPs Standard Operating Procedures will attend one day event at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan. This venue is also selected for handball tournament of Tokyo Olympics Games set to commence from 23rd July 2021.

As extra precaution international athletes will undertake PCR Polymerase Chain Reaction Test within 72 hours prior to their departure for Japan. During their stay in Japan the participants will be tested daily to ensure their well being. However, they will not undergo the quarantine period of 14 days in Japan after their arrival.
