Misbah-ul-Haq announced to continue serving as Coach but steps down from the position of Chief Selector of Pakistan National Cricket Team. Misbah informed PCB-Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Wasim Khan about this decision during the National T20 Cup in Islamabad.

However, Misbah has accepted the request of PCB to continue serving as Chief Selector till 30th November by which time a new Chief Selector will be appointed. This means that Misbah will announce the squads for the home series against Zimbabwe on 19th October and then for the away series against New Zealand.

According to Misbah the decision will facilitate him to focus solely on coaching the players as over the next two years, Pakistan will feature in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, two Asia Cups and 10 FTP series against England, South Africa, Australia, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and West Indies.
