Misbah-ul-Haq the head coach of Pakistan men’s team announced the probable squad for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe. Babar Azam will Captain, while all rounder Shadab Khan has been named the Vice-captain.

In the 22 probables, veterans Shoaib Malik, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mohammad Amir have been rested, while the 20-year-old Abdullah who scored 358 runs in 10 innings of National T20 has been included as a probable.

Misbah clarified that seniors player have not being selected for these series, but it does not mean that there in no future possibility of selection. This is moreover part of strategy to give opportunity to young players.

Further, Misbah focused on the new strategy – to not experiment with the ODI squads as in view of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 qualification, every match counts.

According to the plan the probables will go through Coronavirus tests in Lahore on 21st October. After which the players will be quarantined for 5 days during which they will play two 50-over matches at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Then the squad will travel to Rawalpindi on 26th October.
