Pakistan Begin Batting In Second Innings

Pakistani openers made a confident start to their second innings on the second day of the 2nd test against Sri Lanka in Karachi.

Dinesh Chandimal’s hard-earned 74 led Sri Lanka to impose an 80-runs lead over Pakistan as visitors were bowled out for 271 thanks to Shaheen Afridi’s 5/74.

Dope Test Conducted

Meanwhile, four Pakistani players underwent a surprise dope test conducted by the ICC during the ongoing second test match against Australia.

Mohammad Abbas, Naseem Shah, Abid Ali and Fawad Alam were asked to turn in urine samples for the dope test.

Women Cricket

Green Shirts White Washed

England women cricket team completed its clean sweep of Pakistan and claimed the three-match series 3-0 after beating Pakistan by 26 runs in the third T20I on Friday.

England elected to bat first and scored 174/3 thanks to the 80pruns partnership between skipper Heather Knight (43 off 31) and Amy Jones (37 off 35).

Pakistan managed to score 144 in response to the massive target set by England despite a solid fifty by Javeria Khan (57 off 56).

Heather Knight was named player of the match whereas England’s wicketkeeper Amy Jones was named player of the series.

Football

United Rules Out Pogba Deal

Manchester United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Friday categorically rejected all claims that the club was planning to sell midfielder Paul Pogba or planning an exchange with Salzburg striker Erling Haaland.

French National Pogba has not played a single match for United since September on account of an ankle injury but is poised to join the squad in the coming days.


City Doctor Charged For Doping

An Ex-Manchester City doctor has been charged with anti-doping offense by the Football Association, it was learned on Friday.

 Dr. Andrew Johnson worked for City in as a medical consultant when he applied for the acquisition of a banned substance in violation of the International Football Association’s rules.

The hearing for his case has been scheduled for next month and he can lose his license for up to four years if found guilty.

NBA

Giannis Shine In The Superstar Battle

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 34 points on Friday to lead Milwaukee Bucks to a 111-104 victory over LA Lakers despite LeBron James’ triple-double.

The much-awaited contest between two of the best NBA teams provided the fans a nail-biting contest but Bucks prevailed in the end helped by Giannis’s 34 and George Hill’s 21 points.

Weightlifting

Torokhtiy Banned For Doping

Ukrainian athlete and current world weightlifting champion Oleksiy Torokhtiy has been banned from the sport for two years by the International Olympics Committee (OIC) on doping charges.

Torokhtiy has also been stripped of his 2012 Olympics gold medal after testing positive for banned substance steroid Turinabol.

Ferreira Dethrones Medina To Win Title

Italo Ferreira on Friday defeated the defending champion Gabriel Medina to win WSL – World Surf League Championship Tour title in Hawaii.

25-yer-old Brazilian engaged in a record 40-minute race against two-times champion Gabriel Medina to claim the world title and secure the top spot in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

MMA

Cejudo Relinquishes Title

Henry Cejudo on Friday confirmed his decision to relinquish his UFC flyweight title disputing the earlier reports that he was being stripped of the title by UFC.

Cejudo will keep the bantamweight champion belt that he won by defeating Marlon Moraes in June this year.

UFC officials confirmed Cejudo’s move and announced that next in line MMA fighters Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo will be fighting for the vacant title.
