Australian Ashleigh Barty, the World No. 1, won her maiden Australian Tennis Open title on her home turf. She beat American 27th seed Danielle Collins in the women’s singles final at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne 6-3; 7-6.

This win makes her the first Australian to win the Australian Open Grand Slam title since 1978.

Barty comfortably took the first set 6-3. In the second set she was trailing 1-5. However, the World No. 1 broke Collins twice before winning the second set 7-6 (7-2).
