Mr. Tony Lewis, President of the MCC – Marylebone Cricket Club, has passed away. Aged 78, the passing away of Tony Lewis was announced by the ECB – England and Wales Cricket Board.
Lewis being a former cricketer was well known as developer of the DLS – Duckworth-Lewis-Stern mathematical formula, which is a method applied – in rain reduced limited overs cricket.
The formula firstly known as Duckworth-Lewis was devised by Tony Lewis, along with a fellow mathematician Frank Duckworth. In 1997 the method was introduced and in 1999 officially adopted by ICC – International Cricket Council. In 2014, the method which has been used continuously was renamed as the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method.
The cause of Lewis’s death remains unclear.
