Highlights:

·         Kolkata Knight Riders faced their demons once again as it was their match against Mumbai Indians; a team that has been winning against KKR since IPL 2015.

·         Although, KKR had the home advantage, however this was not going to stop Mumbai Indians from attacking their favorite team.

·        So, KKR won the toss and chose to field first. Mumbai Indians were in a tight spot when and they knew this so they needed their batting unit to fire which they did.

·         First and foremost, a nice partnership of 46 was shared between the openers before Evin Lewis got unlucky as the ball bounced off his pads after hitting his pads and Lynn took a comfortable catch to dismiss him.

·         SA Yadav also departed not long after that, however then came Mumbai’s tornado. And, no it was not Rohit Sharma rather it was the young wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan, who scored 62 off 21 balls to put Mumbai ahead in the game.

·        After he departed, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya also put in their contribution after which a strong finish was made by Ben Cutting to take Mumbai Indians in excess of 200 runs.

·         KKR bowlers were pretty average today, however they needed their batsman to be above average as they needed to score 211 runs to win off 20 overs.

·         So, the 2nd innings started as KKR openers walked out to bat. Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn needed to give their team a good start. But, Mumbai were not going to let that happen as the Narine fell in the first over to McClenaghan.

·         Even Nitish Rana who had been brilliant for KKR in the middle overs could not contribute as Mumbai were on a wicket taking spree.

.         Nevertheless, Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik’s wicket was the end of KKR’s hope as Mumbai tore KKR’s batting line-up and got them all out on 108 runs.

·         This was the biggest defeat for KKR this season as they lost by a whopping 102 runs. Credit goes to Mumbai as they scored a big total and then followed it up with the bowl as well.

·         Despite, losing their first three matches, the defending champions of IPL, Mumbai Indians have moved to the 4th spot in the table. Meanwhile, KKR needs their match-winners to step up if they need to win their place in the play-offs.
