Match Highlights:

·         RCB had only two matches left before play-offs and they had to win both of them in order to make it to the play-offs. This was the first of the two matches against SRH, that has the best bowling attack in this IPL.

·        So, the toss was held and SRH won the toss and chose to field first. RCB openers Parthiv Patel and Virat Kohli walked on the ground as both batsmen looked to replicate their last match performance.

·         However, the first wicket fell in the opening over of the match as Sandeep Sharma took the wicket of Patel to send him back to the pavilion. Virat Kohli looked in fine touch but he made the mistake of attacking SRH’s top bowler Rashid Khan who didn’t take it lightly as he uprooted Kohli’s stumps to send RCB two down in 5 overs.

.         Moeen Ali and ABD were now present on the crease as RCB hoped to get a big partnership from these two; And they got it as Ali finally found his form and he along with ABD shared a 107-run partnership to ensure that RCB got a big total.

·        But, Kane Williamson trusted his strike bowler as Rashid Khan was given the ball who delivered yet again as he took ABD and Moeen Ali’s wicket in the 15th over. And, with these wickets RCB were now under threat to score an average total on the board.

·        But, Moeen Ali was not the only one who found his form today as Colin and Sarfraz also fell in this category and they proved it by scoring 40 and 22 runs respectively to get RCB over 200 runs.

·         SRH now needed 219 runs from 20 overs to win this match and RCB needed to defend it in order to stay alive in this IPL. So, SRH openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Alex Hales got set on the crease and Umesh Yadav was given the new ball.

·         Both openers got their team to a flying start but both of them lost their wickets inside 8 overs as Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey now had to finish the job.

.         Williamson and Manish shared a 135-run partnership and after Kane Williamson got out it all came down to getting 35 runs off 12 balls. Although, the 19th over was started well by Manish Pandey as he got two boundaries off it, however Southee tightened things up as only 15 runs came off the over.

·         In the last over, SRH needed 20 runs but Kane Williamson got out on the first ball and Pandey was not able to score the rest, as RCB won the match by 14 runs.

·       With this win RCB stay alive and things have got much more interesting in the IPL points table as now it will all come down to run-rate.
