1st Quarterfinal – Played on 10 April at Emirates Stadium, London.

Arsenal 2 – 2 Bayern Munich
Arsenal remains in the Top-3 teams of English Premier League currently and may end up winning the League Championship. Bayern are 2nd in German Top League Bundesliga and have no realistic chance of winning the domestic honors due to wide gap with the League leaders. Arsenal could not take advantage of home conditions and managed to ensure a draw after trailing for most of the match. On the other hand, Bayern did well to net two away-goals with 40% possession and much less attempts and shots at the goal. Saka (12’) and Trossard (76’) scored from Arsenal while Gnabry (18’) and Harry Kane (P – 32’) netted from Bayern. 2 nd Leg match at
Allianz Arena, Munich on 18 April is going to be of high intensity where Bayern is tipped to hold slight advantage over Arsenal.

2nd Quarterfinal – Played on 10 April at Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid.

Real Madrid 3 – 3 Manchester City
It was surely a much anticipated match, some scribes calling it mini-final. The match between reigning UCL champions Manchester City and 14- times European Champions Real Madrid proved to be a real thriller. Though City had more possession (62%) yet Real took their chances well to keep the match alive. Bernardo Silva’s stunner in only the 2nd minute gave lead to City but Real not only equalized in 12th minute through R. Dias own goal but went ahead in 14 th minute when Rodrygo netted. However, City equalized in 66 th minute by Foden and went ahead through Gvardiol goal in 71 st minute. Real didn’t hold back and squared the match in 79th
minute when Valverde found the net. The match at Etihad Stadium, Manchester on 18th April is keenly awaited where City is tipped to hold big advantage.

3rd Quarterfinal – Played on 11 April at Parc des Princes, Paris.

Paris Saint-Germain 2 – 3 Barcelona
The Ligue 1 leaders PSG lost the home advantage as they were beaten by 5-times UCL winners Barcelona. Despite nearly 60% possession and more shots at the goal, PSG could not stop the Catalans from winning the tie. Raphinha opened the scoring in 37 th minute when he netted Barcelona’s first goal. PSG came on strongly after the break and scored in quick succession through Dembele (48’) and Vitinha (50’). However, Barcelona
persisted and Raphinha scored his 2 nd goal in 62 nd minute and then Christensen sealed the match in 77th minute. PSG will have to put in real hard efforts to win the return match with big margin at Estadi Olimpic, Barcelona on 17th April where the hosts are tipped favorites.

4th Quarterfinal – Played on 11 April at Civitas Metropolitano, Madrid.

Atletico Madrid 2 – 1 Borussia Dortmund
Compared with the teams of other three quarterfinals, this pairing is much less glamorous in terms of revenue or laurels won. Though both teams have won many domestic and 2nd – 3rd tier European titles, Dortmund has
won UCL only once and despite being in finals thrice, Atletico have never won UEFA Champions League. In this 1st leg of quarterfinals, Atletico had only 33% possession but they were more focused and had more shots and
attempts at goal than their rivals. Atletico went into lead straightaway when De Paul netted in 4th minute. The lead was doubled in 32nd minute through a Lino goal. Dortmund managed a goal in 81st minute when Haller scored. This away goal may become handy when the 2nd leg is played on 17 April at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany where the hosts are tipped to hold advantage.
