The tournament will be staged in the second half of the year and shall be featuring 12 teams this
time. Previously, the slot for the total teams consisted of eight teams only. Being the host, the Indian
Women’s Football team has qualified directly for the championship.

This is not the first time the All India Football Federation shall be hosting any international
tournament. The Under-16 AFC Championships of 2016 and the U-17 FIFA World Cup were staged in
India as well.

Being the last championship eligible for the qualification criteria, the 2022 Women’s Asian Cup shall
be serving as the last final qualification tournament for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
