After leading Real Madrid to their 3rd consecutive Champions League title win, Zinedine Zidane has decided to quit his manager’s role at the club.

Zidane said in a press conference that everything has changed and now is the time to make this decision. The point Zidane put in front of the world was that despite winning many trophies, Real needs to continue winning and they need a different method, a change or a different voice now.

Moreover, Zidane added that if he becomes the manager of Real Madrid in the next season, it would be tough to win trophies.

Real Madrid announced this news on their official twitter page:

Real Madrid’s current captain Sergio Ramos also said goodbye to his beloved manager on Twitter.

Zidane was made the manager of Real Madrid in January 2016 as he replaced Rafael Benitez. At that time Real was going through a time of crisis because they were not winning enough matches.

Furthermore, Rafa Benitez was responsible for the suspension of Real Madrid from Copa del Rey 2015 because Rafa fielded an ineligible player Denis Cheryshev.

Since 2016, the 45-year old Zinedine Zidane has won 104 games and 29 draws for Real Madrid. He had a winning percentage of 69.8% and won nine trophies in just two and a half years. It was an incredible time for Zidane and Real Madrid as they both excelled to the peak in just three years.

Real Madrid are now looking for their new manager who would take the Santiago Bernabeu for the upcoming season.

The early candidates for the replacement of Zidane are as follows:

  • Antonio Conte
  • Arsene Wenger
  • José María Gutiérrez Hernánde
  • Massimiliano Allegri
  • Mauricio Pochettino
