Several WSF world championships have been hosted by Malaysia. 2019 will mark the third time Malaysia has staged the Women’s Junior Team event, following the 1993 edition in Kuala Lumpur and 2001 in Penang.

The biennial event was last staged in New Zealand in July 2017 where Egypt won the title for the sixth time in a row, and Malaysia recorded their best-ever finish as runners-up for the third time.
