Sports-themed art has been existent in ancient Olympics, dating back to year 776 BC in Greece. Since Athletic and art became very closely associated it became a usual practice to depict sports related scenes even involving everyday life in Greek Art.

Sports Art journey in different forms continued for centuries. However, a major break through was achieved when Eadweard Muybridge an english photographer known for his pioneering work in motion photography and in motion-picture projection took up the challenge of documenting a moving horse in June 1878.

From Greek prize vessels and engravings of athletes on them to Persian miniatures on the sport of polo in the Shahnama (poem written by the Persian poet Ferdowsi), the search and surge continues till now. Artists such as Ismail Gulgee, Margret Eicher, Harun Farocki, Eddie Peake and Chi Kai-Yuan are only a few in the list of those who entwine the sport of art to the art of sport.

Allsportspk a trend setter adds another First to it’s pioneering list and becomes the First sports web-publication to officially recognize Sports Art. If you want to be part of this effort, welcome to contact via editorial@allsportspk.com.
