AS Monaco defensive midfielder and Brazil international Fabinho has been signed by Liverpool in a deal that could cost the Champion League finalists more than 40 million euros.

Reportedly, Monaco midfielder will join his Liverpool teammates on 1 July for about 39 million euros (45 million euros expected). Moreover, 4 to 5 million euros is expected to be added in Fabinho’s performance bonus.

This year, Fabinho is the first signing of Liverpool and of the summer transfer window which means the exit of Emre Can from Liverpool.

Fabinho joined AS Monaco FC in 2013 and served the French club for five years. Since 2013, the Brazilian appeared in 225 matches and has scored 29 goals for his club. He also won the Ligue 1 title for AS Monaco in 2016-2017.

Fabinho believes that his time in Liverpool would make him a great player and he also said that he wanted this thing to happen as he’s really excited about his signing.

Furthermore, the Brazilian said in the interview that he wants to write his own history at Liverpool and believes that he will be able to achieve titles with this club.

Jurgen Klopp Excited By Fabinho’s Arrival:

Jürgen Klopp was happy about the signing of the defensive midfielder. He said in the press conference that the player himself is excited about the decision. He has got a versatile playing style and Klopp believes that the mid-fielder can play in three different positions.

Klopp also said that it’s cool that Fabinho can play at his very best in different positions because he has got the mind and ability to do so.

Replacement for Emre Can:

Emre Can, Liverpool midfielder, has been previously linked with a move to Juventus in this transfer window. While, Fabinho excels in defensive midfield and considered as a successor of him.

So, according to Football journalist James Horncastle, Fabinho was a great signing for the Reds and a good replacement for Emre Can as he can serve as three players on the field.

Moreover, the European journalist told that Fabinho after winning the title with AS Monaco and reaching the semi-final of Champions League, was linked to another team but he was told to stay here as he had a good season.

Fabinho can play in midfield and as a full-back. So, it was a wise decision for the Reds to sign him as they lacked in defending and midfieling. It was a two in one package so signing him was a smart move.

Midfielding Strength Increased:

After the signing of the Brazilian, manager and many other players believes that he will play a huge part in the defensive midfield. Fabinho used to play as a right-back and a midfielder in AS Monaco. He excelled in both positions because of his 5 years of hard-work in the training.

Klopp said that Fabinho is a player who can play 6(defensive midfield), 8(midfielder) and 2(defender), so he’s a great addition to the team.
