World No.5 Rafael Nadal will take on second seeded Novak Djokovic in the Madrid Open semi-finals after the Spaniard saw off David Goffin.

Nadal, four times winner of Madrid Open, beat the Belgian ninth seed 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 after Djokovic , a two-time winner,earlier had a walkover when Kei Nishikori withdrew with a wrist injury.

Djokovic has performed well without the coach and supporting staff on this tournament, as he dumped the previous team of his , just before this tournament.

In the other half of the draw, Uruguay’s Pablo Cuevas will play Dominic Thiem.
