Highlights & Analysis

  1. The Multan Sultans extended their lead at the top of the table with a stellar batting performance backed up by a composed bowling effort. The headlines of the match will surely belong to Sohaib Maqsood, who single handedly grabbed the match by the scruff of the neck and helped his team post the highest total of the PSL 2018. His innings propelled Islamabad’s solid initial score to a mammoth final target for the Zalmi.
  2. Sohail Tanvir continued his impressive form at this year’s tournament. He used all the deliveries in his repertoire to slow down the top order batsmen of the Zalmi. This in turn lead to the Zalmi losing early wickets and them not getting the fast start they required to chase down the giant of a total posted in the first innings.
  3. In truth, the match was lost by the Zalmi during the final overs of the Multan innings. Sohaib Maqsood was in full swing and took full advantage of the ill-disciplined and error filled bowling from the Zalmi. The last eight overs saw 107 runs scored. This meant that all the momentum was with the Multan Sultans going into the second innings and they certainly made full use of it.
  4. Multan are sitting pretty atthe top of the table with nine points from six games, while Peshawar, now with three wins and three losses each, maintain their place at third.
