Wimbledon 2018: Kerber Overpowers Serena; Wins Her 1st Grand Slam Title

Angelique Kerber won her first Grand Slam title by convincingly beating the seven time champion, Serena Williams in both sets by 6-3, 6-3.

Serena Williams who has 23 Grand Slam titles to her name was the favourite to win Wimbledon 2018. But the German tennis pro, Kerber continued her exquisite form to spoil Serena’s much awaited comeback.

How did Kerber win the match?

Kerber is known for her defensive play and her plan was to keep the points ticking while exploiting Serena’s lack of mobility.  This plan paid off extremely well, as Kerber managed to break Serena’s serve every time the tennis pro came forward.

On the other hand, Serena had no answer to the German’s tactics as she lost two sets in a row as Kerber won her first ever Grand Slam title.
