Colombian Cycling Race: Chris Froome Confirms Participation

The four-time victor of the Tour de France, Chris Froome, has affirmed his participation in Colombia’s Giro de Rigo cycling race which is scheduled to start from November 4.

Christopher Clive Froome, is a British national and a professional cyclist. He currently represents Team Sky and is placed 2nd in the World Cycling Rankings.

Froome announced his participation on Twitter.

It will be Froome’s first appearance at the Colombian cycling race which is being held in Guatape, a town in Colombia’s Antioquia area.

Jaime Gomez won the first edition of this race while, Efraín Forero holds the record for the most wins in this cycling race.

Tour De France 2018: Geraint Thomas Seals Historic Victory

The Giro de Rigo will have two classes for its participants, who wish to enter the race. The first is a 60km course called ‘Water Challenge’ and the second will be an ‘Energy Challenge’ of 140km.

The race, is being organized by Rigoberto Uran, who is a professional cyclist and a former team mate of Chris Froome.

The news takes after on from what has been an effective year for Colombian cycling, after star rider Nairo Quintana captured his second stage triumph in France and individual Colombian Fernando Gaviria won two of the current year’s stages.
