The Japanese racing driver Takuma Sato has won the 2020 Indy Car Series 500 for the 2nd time. With his team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, he drove Honda to win the race in 3:10:05.0880 time. Takuma had also won the 2017 Indy 500.

This was 104th event of its kind. No spectators were allowed along Indianapolis Motor Speedway due to the corona virus pandemic.

The runner up was the former 5 time champion Scott Ronald Dixon of New Zealand. His race time was 3:10:05.1457. He is associated with the team Chip Ganassi Racing. Dixon had been leading 111 of 200 laps of the race but was overtaken by Sato.

Graham Robert Rahal secured the 3rd position. His race timing was 3:10:05.1833. His team is Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing partially owned by his father. This team won the 1st and the 3rd slot in 2020 Indy 500.

The race was called off earlier while the 5 laps of the winner were remaining because of crash of Spencer Pigot.
